The VisitMath project has made significant progress since its beginnings. This innovative initiative, which links the learning of mathematics to the discovery of European architectural and cultural heritage, offers a range of resources accessible to all.
This multidisciplinary approach allows concrete and relevant application of mathematics for pupils and facilitates understanding. Through this project, pupils can discover the omnipresence of mathematics in their daily lives and a new way of understanding this subject.
Through pedagogical tours, learners explore mathematical concepts applied to an environment that is familiar to them; towns and villages with their fountains, paving stones, and typical and varied monuments depending on the region… Acting as an attention grabber, pupils are quickly captivated and can handle mathematics in a more serene way. They see their curiosity aroused and indirectly acquire knowledge in a more sustainable way than in a more traditional learning environment.
In support, educational sequences are made available for teachers and educators, allowing them to deepen or approach mathematical concepts.

But VisitMath gives additional scope thanks to the educational guides offered which make it possible to consider interdisciplinary projects bringing together several subjects (mathematics, science, history, language, etc.) and to create personalized educational courses. This interactive and immersive approach is particularly beneficial for pupils, especially those who find traditional learning difficult. Indeed, it offers a concrete overview of the application of theorems and mathematical concepts that they study, such as, for example, Gothic cathedrals and Renaissance palaces, timeless witnesses of a rich historical period, are full of geometric patterns and symmetries, illustrating fundamental mathematical principles. Through this type of project, learners feel more involved and show greater interest.

The VisitMath project website also highlights news in the form of written articles, addressing multiple aspects linked to STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) but also architecture, art, design… historical figures and contributions from European mathematicians are also highlighted. VisitMath helps young people anchor themselves in a common scientific and cultural tradition, emphasizing that mathematics is a shared heritage enriched by centuries of discovery and cultural exchange.

All of the resources created in this project, entirely open source and available in 5 languages (English, French, Polish, Italian and Greek), offer free download resources, accessible to teachers, pupils, and enthusiasts. By appropriating these resources and sharing them with those around you, you contribute to their dissemination and allow a greater number of people and structures to access these unique tools while promoting a fun and enriching approach to mathematics and heritage.
Discover and share VisitMath resources now to make each learner an explorer of European mathematical heritage.
